LOVE IS THE NATURE OF GOD 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Vs 4: Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; Vs 5: does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; Vs 6: does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Vs 7: bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Vs 8: Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. Colossians 3:14 14. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. At the new birth, the Holy Spirit shed this love in your heart. Not only does God love you, but also you do have the love of God in you so you can love others with this love. It demands an exercise of your will. Meditate and confess the love scriptures until your heart overflows with God’s love. Don’t judge God’s love by your feelings but by His Word. Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 2. Cultivate an appetite for God’s Word Spiritual things are developed (like smoking and drinking are acquired). Spiritual appetite for God’s Word must be developed by choice. It is like an acquired taste like anything else. (Psalm 37: 4) Attention precedes desire. Your desire is activated by what you pay attention to. Your hunger should lead to delighting in the Word. Meditation: conceiving and uttering and seeing the application of the Word. Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:1-3. These scriptures are powerful when applied and can cause major changes in your life. Day and night focus on the Word of God implies a complete and total absorption in the word of God. Psalm 119 is an expression of how the psalmist did it. 1 Peter 2:1-2 1. Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speakings, 2. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: You must lay aside some things to receive some things. The things we do not lay aside will hinder the things we need to receive. Eph 4:21-29, Col 3:2-13, 16. The Word of God will give you, among other things, a new identity (new creation), a new authority (in the name of Jesus) and new desires and expectations. You will come into understanding how things should work and new levels of integrity and sincerity. The more I discover in the Word, the more I recover what was lost in Adam and now belongs to me in Christ Jesus. 3. Cultivate fellowship with the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14-18) -Through praises/ worship Eph 5:18-21 -Prayers and fellowship -Private obedience to His promptings, Galatians 5: 1, 13-18 When we go through suffering as we lay things aside to build our spiritual lives we can receive help, comfort and strength from the Holy Spirit- 1 Peter 4: 1-4. Eph 4: 30-32: do not grieve Him. Develop your ability to hear Him, know Him, walk with Him, enjoy His ministry with us. John 14:26, 15:26, 16:7-15, etc. 2 Corinthians 13:14- Communion of the Holy Spirit. Have a journal; take note of your prayer, impressions, words, etc. Pressing into a higher calling.
