» THE COVENANT OF HEALING

A general observation of how God moves show that there are three ways we can see Him move. The first is generational; He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The second is relational; His grace is seen to be transferable relationally; Paul says the Philippians are partakers of his grace. The third is He moves with those that have revelation; those who see the invisible; hear the inaudible and touch the intangible are able to see the impossible done. The bible is full of such men and women. The privilege is ours to enjoy through our relationship with God in Christ. The subject of healing comes into this picture. We know God has been involved with healing from the days of old. Many have argued if He still heals today. The question we need to settle is not whether God can or wants to heal but do we really have a covenant that guarantees healing? Exodus 15:26 and 23:25-26 clearly states God’s stance on healing for His covenant children. Some will have us believe we have an inferior covenant to the old.

The book of Hebrews calls ours a better covenant, so if the old has healing of the physical body, the better covenant should have more than physical healing. And it does. I believe whatever is needed for us in the new is first established in the old and we see its application in the new. In any covenant there are conditions to be met for there to be a fulfillment of the blessings in our lives. Until we settle it in our hearts that it is God’s will to heal we shall harbor doubts in our hearts. The unchanging God is Jehova-Rapha - the Lord that healeth thee. Jesus came to fulfill the law and demonstrate the fullness of the old covenant blessings. When He healed the bent lady in the synagogue, He called her the daughter of Abraham, tying the healing the covenant relationship established with Abraham and God. He said "woman, thou art loosed". She came up straight healed.

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. It is His will to heal and He made the provision for it. Proverbs 4 says the Word is healing to our flesh, if we find it. Jesus says these signs will follow them that believe, among other things, they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. Mark 16:15-18.

The seed must be planted. He bore our sickness, our grief and sorrows as stated in Ish. 53:3-5. The seed is not planted in our hearts until it is known, received and trusted. The prayer of faith that heals is to follow the planting of the Word. Looking at Proverbs 4 we see a method we can use to receive the promise of healing.

There must be the attentive ear; verse 20; to incline the ear is to humbly accept the Word; there must be a steadfast look; looking unto Jesus is to let Him be your focus.

There must be an embracing in the heart; keep them in the midst of your heart. It has to be your all in all. When your eyes are upon your symptoms and your mind is occupied with them more than with God’s Word you have in the ground the wrong kind of seed for the harvest that you desire. You have in the ground the seeds of doubt. You are trying to raise one kind of crop from another kind of seed. You cannot sow tares and reap wheat. Your symptoms may point to death, but God’s Word points you to life, and you cannot look in opposite directions at the same time. He is still healing today like He did yesterday.
